Stewart Richlin
Q: You've transformed yourself. How did this happen? A: My father-in-law introduced me to yoga. It made me feel happy and high--spiritually. I kind of knew I was overweight; I didn't care. Yoga just made me feel great. I went from being a really good student to a teacher. Q: What's the most you ever weighed? A: When I broke 200, I stopped looking at the scale. I'm only 5'7" and I just kept getting larger and larger. I was just stuffing down my emotions with food. Now I have the fat percentage of a tall, lean, Scandinavian child. Q: What were you like before? A: I used to drive a Lexus and drink cappuccino. Now, I realize it's more important to be a Rolls-Royce than to drive one. Internally, my style hasn't changed. I still assist and serve people. I did it in the legal world, now I help people feel better about their bodies, clear their minds through meditation. Q: How would you describe your style now? A: I essentially wear pajamas all day. Just like Hugh Hefner, I found a profession where I could wear pajamas to work. I dress in the most comfortable way I can without getting arrested. Q: Do you drink? A: I'm the guy at the bar with the cranberry juice. I must have the healthiest urinary tract in the world. Q: Any tips for picky users? A: On my site (www.yogaonmelrose.com) there are all sorts of vitamin and lifestyle tips. I also believe in this definition of power: It's the ability to connect what you really want to do in your heart of hearts with what you're actually doing. Q: Your mantra? A: No risk, no goodies.
